About Tulbagh

Tulbagh village is situated in a scenic valley,
surrounded by the majestic Witzenberg, Winterhoek,
Saronsberg and Obiqua mountains.

One of the many reasons why it is so special is that
it is a destination town – not a drive through.

What was once a mostly Afrikaans speaking farming community has now become quite cosmopolitan while maintaining its rural charm.

Home to historical Church Street with its 32 Cape Dutch style national
monuments – including the
Oude Kerk Volksmuseum and its annexes
which showcase a Cape Dutch exhibition as well as a photographic
exhibition of the devastating effects of the 1969 earthquake and
the restoration of Church Street and various other historical buildings.
The stately Oude Drostdy Museum is situated a few kilometers out of
town and also offers wine tasting and sales of
Drostdyhof wines

Winelovers can pick and choose from Blue Crane Vineyards,
Buck’s Ridge,
De Heuvel, Drostdyhof, Manley, Montpellier, Rijk’s, Saronsberg, Schalkenbosch, Theuniskraal, Tulbagh Wine Cellars, Twee Jonge Gezellen with its underground
cellar and their Krone Methode Cap Classique sparkling wines and sabrage
demonstrations and last but not least,
Waverley Hills Fine Organic Wines and
Olive oil.  Paddagang Wine shop offers tasting and sales of most of the local
wines and is open 7 days a week.
